Major features

Welcome to Tarma Installer. Tarma Installer helps you to create installation (“Setup”) programs for your own software product. Its major features are:

Intuitive development environment
An easy to use development environment with clearly subdivided project sections and pages, plus extensive help and toolbars.
Wide range of installation items
You can install files, folders, shortcuts, registry keys and values, INI file values, environment variables, file extensions, COM and DCOM classes and servers (including ActiveX controls), type libraries, and services, with a comprehensive range of options.
Feature- and component-based installation
Features are pieces of functionality that the user can select for installation in a tree-like structure, while components are groups of installation items defined by the developer that must be installed or removed together.
Windows Mobile installer support
As of Tarma Installer 5.2, you can now create Windows Mobile installers from any Tarma Installer project, and install the resulting .cab files when your main product is being installed.
Small and fast
The Tarma Installer Setup.exe program is small, fast, and has excellent compression, making your installation packages as compact as possible, thus saving download time and disk space.
Extensive preflight checking
More than 450 different preflight checks spot potential problems before you deploy your installation.
Fully editable installer action sequences
You have complete control over the installer’s actions, even to the point that it’s not an installer at all, but, for example, a CD-ROM AutoRun menu application.
Fully editable installer dialogs and dialog sequences
Using the built-in dialog editor, you can completely redefine any and all dialogs in the installation wizard, add any dialogs that you need, or even remove all of them completely.
Flexible symbolic expressions
Symbolic expressions can be used for many purposes, including file and folder paths, registry paths, system and runtime information, and of course general text that must be easily replaceable. Our runtime functions offer even more possibilities.
Comprehensive language and localization support
Virtually any piece of text that is visible to the user can be localized, including, but not limited to: dialogs, messages, file and folder names, shortcut titles, and registry data. You can build a single installer that includes all languages, or separate installers for each language from a single project. The Tarma Installer development environment, its project files, and the Tarma native installation database and Setup program are Unicode-based from the ground up to ensure that all localization remains intact. (For Windows 95, 98, and Me, an ANSI-based Setup program is supplied, which uses the same Unicode installation database.)
Add-on and update installers
Add-on and update installers allow you to install and remove updates and add-on packages separately from the main application’s original installation, while still allowing the main application to be uninstalled together with all its dependants.
Extension DLLs
You can extend the functionality of the installers by creating your own extension DLLs.

How does Actual Installer saves your time and creates quality installation pack?

InstallerGeek created the topic: How does Actual Installer saves your time and creates quality installation pack?
Need a professional software installer? Actual Installer is an ideal choice for you. Why is it so? Let us have a closer look at its features. First of all, the program uses the minimum of time to build a quality single-file multilingual installation package. Seems to be quite impressive, isn’t? Secondly, working with Actual Installer does not require special knowledge of complicated scripts. This benefit of the program helps you to create your setup package without much routine, which is difficult to avoid, when it comes to working with complicated scripts.

A logical consequence of this means that filling in appropriate fields (descriptions) is all you have to do while building a setup file. An evident fact is that these few merits cannot be all advantages, which the developers of Actual Installer have taken care of. Apart from these benefits, a software developer can apply a variety of other features, which are essential for the creation of a quality installation package: custom logos, a License Agreement and ReadMe texts in RTF or TXT formats, shortcut creation, registry/INI-file modifications, system requirements, file associations, ActiveX, Type Library and Font registration, silent installation, uninstallation and much more.

Please, believe that this is not all yet: the program’s interface combines a great deal of eye-candy and functionality, which is enough to impress even the most demanding users. Besides, Actual Installer provides for splendid opportunities for multilingual support: virtually, it means that Readme and License Agreement texts can also be inserted separately in different languages. Additionally, you can protect your program`s setup with a password.

Now it is time to ask one of our customers to say a few words about the program. “Actual Installer, says Robert Molnar II, one of our customers, has an easy to use installation GUI, produces a clean looking installation program, easy Windows registry editing, straight-forward shortcuts, and many constants such as installation path. The greatest feature is the simple effective process of creating a setup program. A great value for the features that come in it! I am a satisfied customer!”

Now let us have a glace at the program’s principle benefits:

* Ease of use. 10 minutes is all you need to create a quality setup package;
* Support for Windows 95, 98, 2000, 2003, XP, Me, NT 4.0 versions;
* Running files and restarting the PC after installation;
* License agreement displayed in the TXT or RTF format;
* Single-file packaging;
* Small package size;
* Excellent compression;
* Intuitive user interface;
* Complete uninstall opportunities;
* Creating shortcuts;
* Registry and INI-file modification;
* Support for Add/Remove Programs applet;
* Support for Uninstall feedback;
* Support for custom installer logo bitmaps;
* Support for silent installation.

DIFx for x86 and x64 in Advanced Installer

Hi,

I would like to create a single installer package which would support installing of a driver for x64 and x32 platforms. The problem is that if I select Package Type to be Mixed32/64 no matter what I do AI will
always include only 32 bit DIFx files. If I select package type that supports only 64 bit systems proper DIFx dll are taken.

1. Is it possible to make such project in AI
2. What steps needs to be taken to do that
3. How can I set which DIFx (64 or 32 bit) will be used for individual components

Thanks
