Excelsior Installer is a free tool to build compact and professional setup packages for Windows applications with a minimum amount of effort.
Easy to use

You make an installer to simplify life for your user, but what about for you?

First and foremost, ease of use is what we are trying to achieve. Excelsior Installer provides a wizard-style interface that guides you through setup making process. The wizard assigns reasonable defaults for most of the project settings and requires only a few items to be filled in manually. In the best case scenario, you will need just two mouse clicks to create an installation package without running packaging wizard at all.
Fits the Internet

Excelsior Installer produces setup packages in the form of single EXE files, which makes it possible to start installation from within the browser in just a couple of clicks.

Good data compression and small installer overhead in the package allow you to avoid using additional compression software.

Built-in MD5 hash package protection can warn your user about changes in the package that were not authorized by you.
Native speaker for everybody

One package supports multiple installation interface languages.

The language for your user is selected automatically, based on their computer settings.

English, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Russian and Spanish translations are available from the box, and we can help to add more if necessary.

What’s New in version 2.0
Multiple installation roots

It is made possible to install application files to any number of folders in addition to the main installation root.

Special Folder support

It is made possible to set up default locations for installation folders of your application in any of standard Windows locations, like Windows, Desktop, Application Data, My Documents etc.

Folder for temporary files

If there are files in your package that are used during the installation only, you may now put them to a special temporary folder of the package. The installer removes such files after the installation is completed and they will not waste you user’s disk.

Select icons from executable and dll

Icons used in the package now can be extracted from any EXE or DLL file, so it is not necessary to put them into the package as separate *.ico files.

New installation language

Brazilian localization is added to existing eight installation languages.

Keep folders after uninstall

Any additional installation folder, but not the main one, now may be left alive after the application is uninstalled, for example to keep user’s data files or shared components.

Installation package without Uninstaller

In case the uninstallation is unwanted for some reason, or trivial, the new feature allows you to create a package without uninstaller. All your user will get are your files and shortcuts and not a single bit of the installer footprint.
